Describe Yourself: First Time Parent, Stay at Home Parent

These are the only bottles that we bought before our son was born. They got really good reviews and I liked the idea that they were BPA free. Having used them for 5 plus months now as a supplement to breast-feeding, I wish that I had not bought them at all.

First, there are SO many parts - 7 in total if you are using them away from home and don't want them to leak!!! That's a lot of parts to lose in the disposal, have to replace, etc... They are a pain to put together (you have to show a babysitter if they're not familiar with them). They also take up a lot of space in the dishwasher baby basket, drying rack, and in the cabinets. I only use a bottle for feeding once or twice a day and my little basket fills up FAST. If you don't use the little disk to seal it for use away from home, they leak terribly. And, if you do use the disk, it is very hard to get out once it is wet from the liquid being stored inside not to mention I don't like putting my (possibly dirty) fingers inside a bottle when we're away from home; and, where do you put a wet disk in your baby bag anyway?

I also find that the "straws" don't seem to get very clean in the dishwasher. That's just a pain to feel the need to do a second rinse when you take them out of the d/w.

I believe these bottles were created to reduce spit-up, but my little one certainly spits up a lot. He does this with b/f, too, so I'm not inferring that it is the bottles "fault", however, they certainly don't reduce it.

Lastly, one set of these bottles that we bought had clear markings that are IMPOSSIBLE to read.

I've bought all Avent bottles now and wish I had from the start. They're a little more expensive but worth every penny. I've even found ones that incorporate sippy cup pieces in the package.
